Two death match wrestlers collide in a waterfront dance. Each frame a painting. Each gesture a posture toward dominance or submission.
"Organ Dissolution" is part of Andree's ongoing investigation of bodies. It captures the violent dance between "deathmatch" wrestlers as they collide and posture on a slim strip of New York waterfront. The visual intention with the piece was to eliminate the space between beauty and violence, referring to Flemish paintings and iconic works such as "Oath of the Horatii." The mission of the series is also to investigate the body as an entertainment vehicle. To this end, two additional films will focus on pornography and bodybuilding, captured with a similar tension between violent strain and visual spectacle.
